The FORNEY Moisture Tester, proudly made in the USA, is a reliable and efficient solution for determining moisture content in a variety of materials, including sand, aggregates, ores, coal, and soils with particle sizes up to 20mm. Often compared to the older "Speedy" tester, this instrument provides precise, on-the-spot moisture measurements, eliminating delays and minimizing the risk of moisture loss during transport.

How It Works

The FORNEY Moisture Tester operates using a reliable analog pressure gauge, which eliminates the need for complex calculations. By leveraging the chemical reaction between calcium carbide reagent (sold separately) and moisture in the sample, the device accurately measures acetylene gas pressure, correlating it to moisture content.

1. A pre-weighed 20g sample is placed into the sealed test chamber.
2. A measured amount of calcium carbide reagent is added.
3. After agitating the chamber for 1 to 3 minutes, the reaction generates acetylene gas, with the pressure gauge displaying moisture content from 0–20% in 0.2% increments.
4. The moisture range can be doubled by halving the sample weight.
