Mortar Penetration

Mortar Penetration

A mortar penetration resistance apparatus can be used to determine the setting time of a cement sample. Analyzing cement’s setting time can help you figure out the material’s temperature, the proportions of different materials in the cement mixture, the hardening speed of the cement, and more. Mortar water penetration tests determine the initial set of the cement, which is the partially hardened, semi-hydrated state in which cement can’t be plied or worked. In addition, they can also analyze the final setting time, in which the cement is completely hard.

Forney’s mortar penetration resistance apparatus allows you to accurately measure the cement’s setting time by determining its penetration resistance level. Each unit consists of a spring reaction device, graduated in two pound-force increments from 10 lbf to 130 lbf, along with a sliding ring indicator, a set of six penetration needles, and a carrying case.
