The Defender 5000 scale is ideal for shipping and receiving, production, packaging and general commercial and industrial weighing applications. It offers a multifunctional indicator with multiple weighing units and software modes to meet the requirements of industrial and lab applications. They combine an ABS plastic indicator with rectangular painted steel bases and columns.

The large LCD display has high-contrast white backlight and features Temporary display of 10X readability in weighing mode using quick key press. It has a 4-key membrane keypad with raised tactile keys.

The scale has an internal power supply with universal line cord or 6 "C" batteries (80 hour battery life) – an optional NiMH internal rechargeable power pack is available.

Includes RS232 interface with GMP/GLP data output including date and time.

The painted steel column is 26.8 in (68 cm) tall.
