Our Organic Impurities Test Set is designed to quickly and reliably identify potentially harmful organic materials in fine aggregates. This test method is widely used to assess aggregate quality in construction and materials-testing applications around the world.

This International Version is supplied without sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to simplify global shipping and customs clearance while preserving full compliance with ASTM and AASHTO test procedures.

How It Works

The test procedure is simple and well established. The aggregate sample is mixed with a 3% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution in a clear, graduated glass bottle and allowed to stand for 24 hours. If the liquid above the sample darkens beyond the color shown on the reference disc, the aggregate may contain deleterious organic compounds and should undergo further evaluation prior to approval.

Note: Sodium hydroxide is not included in this international kit and must be sourced locally.

Reagent Sourcing Note

To perform the test in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards, users must prepare a 3% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution using locally sourced NaOH pellets or flakes. Reagent-grade sodium hydroxide is recommended for best accuracy and repeatability.
