Organic Impurities Test Set for Fine Aggregates
Our Organic Impurities Test Set is designed to detect harmful organic materials in fine aggregates quickly and accurately. This test is widely used to evaluate the quality of fine aggregates in construction and related materials-testing applications.
How It Works:
The test is straightforward: mix your aggregate sample with a 3% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution in a clear, graduated glass bottle and allow the mixture to stand for 24 hours. If the liquid above the sample darkens beyond the color shown on the included reference disc, it may indicate the presence of organic compounds and signal that further testing is required before material approval.
What’s Included:
- Six 8 oz / 240 mL Graduated Impurities Test Bottles with watertight screw-on caps, calibrated in both ounces and milliliters for accurate measurements.
- 1 lb (454 g) of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Pellets to prepare a 3% solution, sufficient for over 150 tests.
- Color Reference Disc with five standard reference colors for easy color comparison.
For strict adherence to ASTM and AASHTO Standards, Reagent Grade Sodium Hydroxide Pellets can also be ordered separately.
Important Shipping Information
Due to the inclusion of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), this test set cannot be shipped internationally through standard international shipping channels. Sodium hydroxide is classified as a regulated hazardous material and requires additional documentation, certifications, and specialized handling for export, which significantly increases cost and complexity. For international customers, a version of this test set without Sodium Hydroxide is available.
