This test set includes all the equipment to perform three SELF CONSOLIDATING CONCRETE (SCC) test procedures: The J-Ring Test, the Column Segregation Test, and the Spread Test.
The FORNEY J-Ring Test Set includes everything you need to determine the ability of SCC mixtures to flow around rebar and other reinforcing structure in concrete forms. The test can be used in the laboratory for comparing the passing ability of different mixtures or in the field for QC testing. The J-Ring meets the ASTM specification C 1621 and C 1621M-06 Standard Test Method for Passing Ability of Self-Consolidating Concrete by J-Ring.
The SCC Column Segregation Test is to determine the potential segregation of coarse aggregate in SCC mixtures. The FORNEY Segregation Test Set includes everything needed to determine the potential segregation of coarse aggregate in SCC mixtures tested in a static condition. The unit consists of three PVC plastic pipe sections, clamps, and collector plate. Concrete is poured into the column and allowed to set for 15 minutes. The collector plate is then held at the level of the upper horizontal seam and the top portion is slid onto the collector plate. The material in the plate is then washed and the remaining aggregates are weighed. This process is repeated for the other sections. The weights of the aggregates in the top, middle and bottom thirds are compared. Weights which are significantly different indicate that there is substantial segregation in the concrete. Dimensions are 12 in x 12 in x 26 in LWH (305 x 305 x 660) mm.
The SCC Spread Test Set includes everything you need to determine the flowability of SCC mixtures according to the ASTM C 1611 specification. The slump cone is placed in the center of the base and a sample of concrete is poured into the slump cone without rodding or other consolidation. The cone is then raised, allowing the concrete to spread. A measurement is taken of the widest diameter and of the narrowest diameter, and an average of the two is calculated. A visual inspection is made of the distribution of aggregate in the sample.
