The Pocket Shear Vane Test rapidly measures the approximate shear strength of cohesive soils whether in the field or lab. The blades of the vane are pressed into the soil, and the knob rotated slowly until the soil matrix fails. The indicator needle retains maximum reading and can be used on any 2 inch diameter flat soil surface.
