SCC (Self Consolidating Concrete)

SCC (Self Consolidating Concrete)

Self-consolidating concrete is a medium-viscosity concrete mix with low levels of yield stress and high levels of segregation resistance. When you pour self-consolidating concrete, it’s a much more fluid pouring process than you might be used to with standard concrete, which is a denser and more viscous form of concrete. Self-consolidating concrete does not require vibration or compaction to reduce the occurrence of air bubbles. As the name suggests, self-consolidating concrete can spread itself to fill your formwork with no mechanical assistance.

Because this is a different material than typical concrete, there are different methods for self-consolidating concrete spread tests. If you want to test according to the ASTM standard for self-consolidating concrete, you might be interested in our SCC Complete Test Set.

This kit includes everything you need to perform three different ASTM specification tests: the self-consolidating concrete spread test, the column segregation test, and the J-ring test. The SCC Complete Test Set includes a base plate, slump cone, beveled straight edge, segregation tester assembly, J-ring, base plate decal, and collector plate.

Forney also offers test sets for each of these tests. For example, the Forney J-Ring Test Set includes a heavy-duty steel J-ring and a sturdy plastic base plate, along with a slump cone and straight edge. This kit provides everything necessary to test self-consolidating concrete’s ability to flow around reinforcing structures in concrete forms. You can also purchase standalone versions of the Forney Segregation Test Set and the Forney Spread Test Set.

In addition, Forney offers every accessory imaginable to test for the ASTM standard for self-consolidating concrete, including base plates, slump cones, collector plates, clamps, and more.
